The Looters_podcast

The story of a calculated cultural destruction during World War II.

During World War II, the Nazis initiated a systematic theft of art across Europe. They believed it was their right to own invaluable masterpieces or destroy art created by opponents of the Nazi regime. The Looters is a miniseries revolving around the millions of antiquities and artworks stolen during the war.

The Looters combines historical insight and extensive research to tell the story of the vast looting operations and how art was used as a tool of power and propaganda during World War II. We follow the fate of stolen masterpieces, artists and collectors on a quest to recover what was stolen. The Looters also links past events with ongoing ethical debates in the art world.

This podcast is a miniseries consisting of three episodes. It is created by award-winning journalist and author Anders Rydell, based on his book Plundrarna: hur nazisterna stal Europas konstskatter.
