Revenge Podcast Wraak

Podster cover of the podcast ‘Wraak’, which means ‘Revenge’ in English.

‘Wraak’, a Dutch miniseries of eight episodes, is now available to being adapted to other languages by Podster. The podcast focusses on fatal ambitions within a police force and how revenge is a dish best served cold.

The newest show in the Podster catalogue is the fictional crime series Wraak (Revenge). It tells the story of ambitions and how they can be your downfall if you are not careful. The podcast also sheds light on the consequences of the Metoo-movement.

In the story, we follow Barbara Schaaf, who dreams of becoming chief of the Amsterdam Police Department. Her ambition and zeal for power makes her use shady methods to secure a promotion. Schaaf deliberately gets rid of her competition by creating false claims of him violating other colleagues. The plan works, and Schaaf is given the promotion to chief. However, someone knows the truth and they are coming for her and everyone else involved in the Metoo-campaign.

360-degree sound and a place on the top lists

The podcast series was created by Karin van der Meer, a screenwriter who also wrote 40 episodes of the Dutch drama series Nieuwe buren. Wraak was originally released in 2020. In 2021, Wraak was nominated for a Prix Europa. Prix Europa is a festival that celebrates different types of media productions in Europe. They have done so since 1987.

With more than 650,000 listeners in total and a continued rank at the fiction top lists in the Netherlands, it is clear that this show has captivated its listeners. This is no surprise, since Wraak manages to give the audience a unique listening experience. The show was originally created for radio and is produced in 8D immersive audio. This type of audio gives the illusion of 360-degree sound, which makes the listener feel like a part of the story.
