A 29-year-old murder case is investigated anew – with a surprising result!
Guilty? was first published in 2015, and climbed straight to the top of the Swedish charts. The podcast examines an ambiguous murder case to establish what really happened on the morning of May 21, 1986.
In 1986, 15-year-old Samir was sentenced to psychiatric treatment after being charged with the murder of his stepmother. He confessed to stabbing her several times. A year later, Samir retracted his confession and claimed that his father was the perpetrator. He stated that he confessed to the hideous crime so his dad wouldn’t have to go to jail.
This investigative podcast was created by the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. Journalist Anders Johansson set out on a journey to find out if Samir was indeed innocent. And if so, who actually murdered his stepmother. The show reached millions of listeners in its home market as the episodes unravel new findings through interviews and investigative journalism. Guilty? was instrumental in changing a man’s life.
